Our family got to meet little Jacob Wilner the other day. He’s very sweet! Anna and Anna Wilner played dress-up and had fun while Jacob slept.

This is the best one yet. Sometimes the teachers at school will write notes to kids’ parents if they ask for it. Anna wrote this to me the other day. When Anna says “workday” she means the day I work at her preschool. I love that she still likes me around.

Anna is hopscotching down the sidewalk in front of our house. Three young punks are walking behind her with their skinny jeans and hoodies. One of them starts hopscotching, then another. Then a separate pedestrian, a woman, starts hopscotching behind them. They all hopscotch past Anna. Four people randomly hopscotching all the way down our block and Anna’s got a big ol’ smile on her face for the next hour. I love my city.

Jacob Adams Wilner was born this morning very early, right on his due date like a good little journalist. The other Anna is loving him, Rachel says.

Decorating the tree

We decorated the little Christmas tree on my birthday, as is our tradition. We have such a little tree! It didn’t take very long. Maybe next year we’ll get a bigger one!

Spa getaway

Brian and I celebrated our birthdays a little bit extra this year with a getaway to a really nice place in Napa. We got massages, swam in the pool, sat in the infinity hot tub, and generally relaxed, pretending we had no responsibilities whatsoever. Which was awesome. Anna got to stay the night in the East Bay, thank you, Parkers! And she had fun, too. Some photos from the outing below, but I didn’t bring my real camera, so just from the phone. I wish I were there again right now!

Making gingerbread houses

Josie, Jessica, Anna and I got to decorate gingerbread houses the other day, it’s becoming a bit of a tradition for all of us. Yay! Because it’s only happening once a year, the girls are different each time, so it’s interesting to see how they change their approaches. Last year was about 80-20 eating to decorating. And they only hung out near the houses for about 10 minutes last year then moved on to something else (and came back to eat). This year, it was closer to 60-40. And they decorated for maybe an hour! Getting more and more fun.

Mustaches

The only mustache NOT made of pizza dough in this cell phone photo is Brian’s. We went to Giorgio’s, where they give kids pizza dough to play with while they wait for their food. So we played with it. Also, Anna had her face painted at school, so that’s what all the extra marks are.

We saw Santa!

Anna and I went to see Santa today downtown. We waited not too long in line, but then when it was just our turn, the cameras stopped working. So they let me take a photo or two with my phone. It’s not great quality, but it’s Anna with Santa! She had a good idea what she was going to ask, but then froze up when it came time. Ah well, I think Santa will find out what Anna wants for Christmas eventually.
